10.31: “Something So Beautiful”

Interact, the domestic violence and rape/sexual assault agency for Wake County, North Carolina, debuted its documentary, “Something So Beautiful,” in April 2004 during a Sexual Assault Awareness Month event, celebrating Interact’s 20-year anniversary. Over 300 people packed the seats of a local theater for the premiere. Since then, Interact has used the documentary as an educational tool for thousands of people who have participated in domestic violence trainings.

The documentary features the true stories of four survivors of domestic violence – all four received counseling at Interact. The film’s title was inspired by a song about domestic violence that bears the same name. Songwriter and performer Kyler England donated the use of her song for the documentary.
